Road bike route description
A nice long distance route with long flat sections (44km and 23km) and also 2 moderate climbs.
Start cycling east to warm up your legs on N340 direction Nerja and passing villages like Cala del Moral, Rincon de la Victoria and Torrox Costa. By reaching Torrox Costa, turn left on the roundabout direction Torrox on MA-102. By reaching Torrox Pueblo you can turn to the village to make a break or continue on A-7207 to climb one of the most picturesque ascend in Axarquia region. The serpentine roads and smooth climbing sections will leads you to Competa – the white village with famous sweet wine named Vino de Competa. If not done before, stop here for a break before the descend to Algarrobo on curvy roads on A-7206.
After the descent you will find yourself again on N340 flat section to Torre del Mar and shortly before entering the village, turn north to Velez Malaga. Passing Velez Malaga you have to go north on A 7205 till you see the sign BENAMOCARRA. Turn lef to cross the highway (A-356) on MA-3116. From here only one direction: continue on MA-3116 to reach Benamocarra, ascent to Iznate during 7 kms and after reaching 375hm out of Iznate village, descent to the coast line passing Cajiz. On N-340 again, just pedal smooth back to Malaga to relax your legs. Recommend to stop in Benajarafe for last stop for coffee/snack.
