Guided road cycling tours

We have designed road bike tours with varying levels of difficulty utilizing a combination of distance, gained elevation, gradient on hills and average speed. Using this method, you can find the most appropriate tour for you. Keep in mind that the indication of levels is based on our own experience with our customers and can vary from your subjective perception.

Leisure

Active vacationers or leisurely riders who want to cycle easily while enjoying the wonderful scenery of the Malaga region. Enough time to take photos and have a coffee.

Distance: up to 80 km
Gained elevation: up to 800 m
Average speed: 18–22 km/h

Hobby

Fit and adventurous riders who are not interested in racing or being competitive, but still appreciate a good challenge. Must be able to ride for 2 hours non-stop at moderate pace.

Distance: 80–110 km
Gained elevation: up to 1200 m
Average speed: 20–24 km/h

Sport

Competitive amateur cyclists who practice regularly on long rides at a fast pace with a weekly regime. Challenging climbs and technical descents are guaranteed.

Distance: over 100 km
Gained elevation: over 1600 m
Average speed: 22–28 km/h

AVOCADO – Road Bike Tour

Level: leisure
Duration: 4 hrs
Distance: 80 km
Elevation: 750 hm

A smooth ride along the east coast of Malaga up to Torre del Mal. Then a gentle climb to the Benamocarra with a coffee stop. Afterwords, an easy climb to Iznate, a short descent to the coastline and finally a relaxing flat ride back to Malaga.

TRES CABALLOS – Road Bike Tour

Distance: 75 km
Elevation: 600 hm

Heading toward the west and then passing through the Silicon Valley of Malaga (PTA). Following Estacion de Cartama by riding on the north part of Guadalhorce River Valley (Valle del Rio de Guadalhorce). Upon reaching the famous cyclists' tavern, Tres Caballos, stop for tapas & coffee. Then returning the same way.

CASASOLA – Road Bike Tour

Distance: 85 km
Elevation: 1500 hm

Smooth start rolling for about 15km to Almogia, where after we will follow enjoyable ups & downs. Reaching on a steady climb to Villanueva de la Concepcion, we stop for coffee and tapas. Riding back to Malaga passing by the Casasola Lake.

COMPETA – Road Bike Tour

Duration: 5 hrs
Distance: 110 km
Elevation: 1000 hm

Long flat ride for about 45km on the east coast towards Torrox Costa. A beautiful 16km climb to Competa, where we will stop for coffee and tapas and to enjoy the view of the majestic Maroma peak (highest mountain in Malaga with 2300 hm). Enjoy a rewarding 19km descent to the coastline with relaxing legs on a flat of 30kms, heading back to Malaga.

Advanced guided road bike tour from Malaga to Axarquia map

AXARQUIA LOOP EAST – Road Bike Tour

Level: sport
Duration: 6 hrs
Distance: 120 km
Elevation: 1850 hm

We start to ascend for about 20km on 3 different sections to Casabermeja. Turning east towards Axarquia are the first villages of Colmenar and Riogordo, where we stop for coffee and tapas and to fill our bottles with water. A nice descent passing Viñuela lake and going back to Malaga on the flat coastline for about 30km.

EL TORCAL LOOP NORTH – Road Bike Tour

Elevation: 2300 hm

Starting from the very first kilometer and reaching 3 hill climbs Casabermeja on 700 hm. Going up & down the hills until reaching Villanueva de la Conception where we stop for coffee and tapas and filling up our water bottles. Going back thru the rolling parts starting at Pizarra and ending at Malaga.

EL CHORRO LOOP WEST – Road Bike Tour

Duration: 6 hrs
Distance: 130 km
Elevation: 1800 hm

Moderate start with rolling distance of about 35km to reach Alora. After Alora, a smooth climb of todays top at 600 hm. Descend to El Chorro lake where we stop for coffee and tapas enjoying the beautiful nature of Guadalteba Lake. Riding back thru Carratraca on mostly a descent route.

Good to know

Starting time

We recommend to start guided road bike tours at 9h (Mar–Oct) or 10h (Nov–Feb). Special start time can be arranged upon request.

Choosing guided bike tour

You can join an existing road bike tour or you can choose any route from our road cycling routes, we will adapt to your needs. You can come up with your own cycling route and we will happily keep you company.

Bike included

BH Quartz – a full carbon road bike with Ultegra groupset – check the technical information and size of the bike here.

What else included

  • helmet (recommended to bring your own)
  • click pedals (SPD, SPD-SL, Keo Look, flat)
  • insurance to third-party (not accident nor medical insurance)
  • experienced local guide
  • energy bar (1 per person)
  • 0,5l bidon (1 per person)

What you should bring

  • your riding gear (we do have some of our own quality riding gear – let us know your size to check the availability)
  • ID and Credit Card to sign the waiver

Conditions

  • 3rd party insurance: bike2malaga has a Third Party Insurance. This means that damages caused to third parties by doing the activity are covered by the insurance. NOT covered: personal injuries, or damage to/by clients and/or bike during the bike rental period or guided bike tour
  • before the tour start, you need to sign our waiver and leave a deposit of 300€ for road bike use (Visa or MasterCard)
  • prepayment of 20€ required to reserve your spot at our Guided Road Bike Tour
