Road bike route description

This is a long trip close to 150 km so it makes that difficult. In generally you will get almost 2000 m of elevation, it is not so much but some hills are a bit steeper.

Starting in Malaga take direction for Campanillas on MA-405/A-7076 and then to Pizarra on A-7054, any 30 km of flat roads. In Pizarra you will turn left for Zalea / Casarabonela facing amazing mountains Sierra Prieta and Sierra de Alcaparain. The aim is go along those hilly formations. Through Casarabonela you have to climb to pass Puerto Martinez (730 m.a.s.) on road MA-5401 between those mentioned sierras. Downhill to valley is a bit slow due to bad quality of asphalt but once you enter road for El Burgo it became excellent. Only shortly before village the surface is bad again.

El Burgo is located in deep valley surrounded by impressive mountains: Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Prieta and Sierra de Alcaparain. There is a lot of bars to be refreshed and then you can start your 2nd climb. It might be pass called Puerto de las Abejas (820 m.a.s.) which was many times climbed by professionals during Vuelta a Andalucia or Vuelta a España. Surface on A-366 is perfect and 8 km of climb through wide road will pass fast and easy. Behind the summit you will see the Valley of Malaga again and you will descent any 15 km to Alozaina.

Since that point the journey on A-366 to Coin is easy and almost invisible downhill, from Coin you take A-7059/A-7057 to Estacion de Cartama. There you have to follow A-7054 to Malaga again.
